Barcelona are set to be challenged by Premier League champions Manchester City in their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentacur.
The defending La Liga champions have been a long term admirer of the Uruuguayn international, and were reportedly set for a summer bid for him prior to the arrival of Antoine Griezmann at the Camp Nou.
However, according to reports in UK newspaper the Daily Star, Pep Guardiola's side are now looking to take advantage of his frustration in Turin by rivalling Barcelona for his signature next summer.
Bentacur has been used sparingly so far this season by manager Maurizio Sarri, with summer signings Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot both starting ahead of him so far in 2019-20.
The 22-year old joined the Serie A giants in a €10M deal from Brazilian side Boca Juniors, but it is widely speculated that it will take a fee of between €35-40M to prize him away from Italy.
