Atalanta have completed a season-long loan signing with an option to buy for Sevilla full-back Guilherme Arana, it has been confirmed.
It had been claimed by reports that fellow Italian side SPAL were also interested in a deal, but he has instead opted to join the Bergamo-based club.
Atalanta are in the Champions League this season and that is an added incentive for the player, who have also signed striker Luis Muriel from Sevilla this season.
The 22-year-old joined the Andalusian club from Corinthians in January 2018 but has been involved in just 12 La Liga games over the course of 18 months, failing to dislodge first-choice Sergio Escudero.
Sevilla subsequently signed Sergio Reguilon on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, further limiting any potential game-time for the Brazilian.
Brazilian club Santos, who are currently coached by former Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli along with his former club Corinthians, were also said to be in the running for his signature earlier this year.
