La Liga side are considering a move for Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin ahead of the new La Liga season.
According to reports in reports in both France and Spain, via television station Canal+, Marcelino has spoken to the Valencia board about a potential €35m bid for the former Newcastle United man.
The 26-year old came to the attention of Europe's leading clubs following his breakthrough season with Marseille in 2014-15, before his move to St.James' Park in 2016.
He struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, returning to Marseille for an 18-month loan spell, before returning permanently at the start of the 2017-18 season.
That has seen his profile improve season on season, with 38 league goals in 67 appearances in the last two campaigns, meaning that his name is being mentioned with a move away from France.
Marcelino has invested heavily in his squad this summer, bringing in Jasper Cillessen, Maxi Gomez, Denis Cheryshev and Manu Vallejo to strengthen their squad ahead of Champions League football in 2019-20.
