Celta Vigo manager Fran Escriba has hailed the fighting spirit of his players after their 2-1 home win over Girona this weekend.
The former Getafe boss has turned things around since his arrival in March, with ten points gained from their last five La Liga games pushing them further away from the relegation zone.
Their victory against Eusebio Sacristan's side moves them up to 14th in the table, with a three point gap on the bottom three, however Escriba has warned his players that there is still work to be done.
"We have taken an important step towards survival with this win over Girona.
"But nothing is finished yet – although I do have the feeling that we can beat anyone at the moment."
Fans favourite Iago Aspas has grabbed the headlines in recent weeks, with six goals in his last four appearances, but the boss wanted to give some overdue credit to his defenders.
"I have always been happy with the work they put in – even when others criticise them.
"If I drop a defender, it is because I don't like having too many on the bench."
