Atletico Madrid defender Luicas Hernandez has revealed that he rejected a move to rivals Real Madrid – in an interview with Diario AS.
The French international told the newspaper that an offer was made in 2017, but he turned them down.
"It is true that approximately two years ago Real Madrid made a significant offer via my agent, but at the time I felt I owed too much to Atletico and I rejected it."
The left back was heavily linked with a move to German superpower Bayern Munich during the January transfer window, however the transfer did not go through and Hernandez remains with Diego Simeone's side.
"There was a bid from another major European side in January.
"I informed Atletico of this and the club made clear that they did not want me to leave, and asked me to take some time to think about it.
"In the end there was a change in my personal circumstances and we all agreed that the situation would be reviewed again before the end of the season."
Hernandez is currently under contract at Atletico until 2024, however the club are expected to offer him significantly improved terms to persuade him to stay in Madrid.
