Valencia boss Marcelino spoke of his ‘anger’ after his side left the Champions League with what he felt was a Manchester United handball on Tuesday.
Mario Mandzukic’s tap-in earned Juventus a 1-0 victory over Valencia, but Los Che still had a chance of reaching the knockout stages as United seemed to be heading for a goalless draw with Young Boys ahead of the two sides’ match at Mestalla.
However, Marouane Fellaini scored a late winner for the Red Devils, which counted despite the midfielder appearing to tee himself up for the shot with his hand.
“I knew it was a handball, but we have no solution. These small details matter,” Marcelino said after the game.
“What’s strange is that VAR still isn’t in the Champions League, but talking about it doesn’t help us.
“That’s football, we focus on ourselves and that’s the only way we can get back here.
“When you’re told right at the end of a game that your rivals have scored, I wouldn’t be a professional if I wasn’t affected by it.
“If United’s goal was with a hand then it makes you more angry.”
Whatever happens in two weeks’ time, Valencia will finish third in Group H and qualify for the Europa League last 32.
