Real Valladolid boss Sergio Gonzalez feels he has the keys to stopping Barcelona – cutting off Lionel Messi and ‘exploiting the things they do least well’.
Valladolid are back in La Liga after four years away but won 1-0 the last time they hosted Barca, while Ernesto Valverde has already complained about the state of the pitch at Jose Zorrilla.
“The fewer balls he receives, the less time he has on it, the better,” the Coach said at a Press conference.
“We’ll look to exploit the things they do least well. The pitch can’t be an excuse for any team.
“After the arrivals of our new forwards this week, our attack won’t be the same as before. We want a boost.
“We always want more and we’ll keep looking around for new players. It’s exciting that the club want to extend my contract.
“That means they’re happy with me. An extension would allow us to work more calmly, towards a project.”
