Ronaldo: Juve appreciated me

Cristiano Ronaldo has explained how the Juventus fans positive reaction to his overhead kick influenced his decision to join the club.

The Portuguese star joined the Bianconeri in a €100m deal from Real Madrid this summer after making a huge impact in last season’s Champions League quarter-final.

Ronaldo scored three times across the two legs including a spectacular overhead kick in the victory in Turin last March, which was appreciated by the home fans.

“The small details make a big difference in decisions,” Ronaldo replied in a Dazn interview, as cited by Diario AS, when asked if the home fans response had influenced his decision.

“To be honest, what you see and hear in the stadium can be helpful for you, those moments of respect and appreciation are important.

“It is unfortunate for me that the goal came against my current club but I believe it is my best ever, so the response was really great.

“It was an unbelievable moment to see those fans on their feet and clapping, this had never happened to me before.”
