Barcelona have confirmed goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen and midfielder Sergi Samper will both face indefinite injury layoffs.
23-year-old Samper has not made an appearance for the club in over two years and has spent spells on loan at Granada and Las Palmas, while he has now suffered a sprain to the internal lateral ligament of his left ankle.
Dutch international Cillessen, a backup to the club’s first choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, has sustained an injury to his left rib.
Cillessen, 29, joined Barca from Ajax in 2016 but has struggled to dislodge Ter Stegen from the number one spot and has made just two La Liga appearances across two seasons.
