Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both hold an interest in signing Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso, according to a report in Diario AS.
Both are said to hold an interest in luring the Spaniard to their club this summer but will not be dissuaded from pursuing a deal in future transfer windows.
Alonso came through Real Madrid’s La Fabrica youth system but did not make the grade in the first-team and has since represented several clubs, joining Chelsea from Fiorentina in 2016.
The potential departure of Filipe Luis from Atletico to Paris Saint-Germain, coupled with Theo Hernandez’s loan exit from Real Madrid to Real Sociedad, have propelled the 27-year-old into both club’s thoughts.
The player’s versatility and attacking threat, alongside his defensive work, are qualities which ensure he is admired by both clubs.
Alonso is viewed as a set-piece specialist and offers a goal threat, as shown by his winner for Chelsea in the weekend victory over Arsenal.
