Eduardo Berizzo (pictured right) insists his Athletic Club Bilbao side are ‘ready’ for starting their La Liga campaign against Leganes on Monday.
The former Celta Vigo and Sevilla Coach will go up against his countryman Mauricio Pellegrino, with both tacticians new in their respective jobs.
“We are ready for the first game and enthusiastic about displaying what we can do,” Berizzo told reporters.
“It is a benefit for us to start at home in front of our fans in the San Mames – this is where we have trained recently so the new players can start to feel the stadium and it’s atmosphere, alongside familiarising themselves with the pitch.
“We need to give the fans a team to be proud of this season, to show fight and determination and to be able to bounce back from adversity.
“Leganes will defend very well, they will have lots of organisation – I know (their Coach) Mauricio Pellegrino as we are from the same region of Argentina, it will be a tactical battle.
“Leganes will have a strong game plan so we must play with intensity and rhythm.”
