Real Betis are ahead of Sevilla in the race to sign out-of-favour Inter midfielder Joao Mario, according to reports.
La Gazzetta dello Sport say talks are ongoing between the clubs over a loan deal with an option to buy permanently at the end of the campaign.
The Portuguese international spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, but the Hammers didn’t take up the option to sign him permanently.
Sky Italia previously reported Andalusian clubs are interested in taking up the option to loan the 25-year-old, who is said to have no future at the Milanese giants.
Mario was signed by the Nerazzurri in a €40m deal from Sporting CP two summers ago and they would be keen to recoup more than half that amount in the result of any move.
The midfielder scored twice and provided six assists in 29 appearances last season at Inter and the East London club.
