Paris Saint-Germain Coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted Adrien Rabiot – a reported Barcelona transfer target – could leave this summer.
The 23-year-old, who was excluded from France’s World Cup squad this summer, sees his contract in Paris expire next summer which has led to transfer speculation over an exit this year.
“It’s not certain if Adrien stays at PSG. It all depends on him,” Coach Thomas Tuchel said after Sunday’s 3-0 win against Caen, which was also Gianluigi Buffon’s debut in Ligue 1.
“For me he’s a great player. He can grow even more and become a top player.”
A report in France Football last month said Barca technical director Eric Abidal had met with the player’s mother to discuss a potential deal, while the El Mundo Deportivo printed an image of the Barca duo in the Paris airport.
A parallel report in Diario Sport had suggested the French champions would sanction a deal at around €40m despite Rabiot captaining PSG in all three of their International Champions Cup matches.
However, the Catalan giants have already signed Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal to replace Andres Iniesta and Paulinho this summer, meaning their interest may have been discontinued.
