Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola has been ruled out of the European Super Cup due to suffering ‘a grade one injury in the abductor of the right leg’.
The 22-year-old joined the European champions in a €40m move from Real Sociedad this summer but will miss the start of the campaign due to the injury sustained in training.
The right-back will also miss the first La Liga match of the season at home to Getafe but he could be fit for the following week’s trip to Girona.
Odriozola, who can also play as a winger, is expected to mainly provide competition at right-back this season to regular starter Dani Carvajal.
