Real Madrid have rejected a €5m offer from Bournemouth for teenage defender Sergio Lopez, according to a report in Marca.
The 19-year-old is ‘living the dream’ by participating in the International Champions Cup pre-season tour with his boyhood club, according to the report.
The right-back faces a tough task to break into Madrid’s first-team squad with Dani Carvajal established in that position and Alvaro Odriozola being signed for €40m from Real Sociedad.
Lopez has been the regular in that position for Madrid’s Castilla side but the report indicates Julen Lopetegui and the club see him as having a long-term future at the club, with indications he has signed a deal until 2022.
Bournemouth’s offer was said to be €5m up front plus a further €4m in bonuses. The South Coast club have already signed Leganes defender Diego Rico and are said to be nearing a deal for Levante midfielder Jefferson Lerma.
