Kevin Gameiro’s transfer to Valencia has been thrown into doubt after Borussia Dortmund bettered Los Che’s offer for the Frenchman.
The Atletico Madrid striker’s exit from the Wanda Metropolitano is yet to be finalised as the club are still looking to bring in a direct replacement, with Nikola Kalinic favourite ahead of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
However, Marca understands that a new offer has come in for Gameiro from Bundesliga giants Borussia, who have bid €23m for the player, which is far in excess of the €14m Valencia are thought to have offered.
Gameiro had already agreed to sign for Valencia, whilst continuing to prepare for the new season by training with Atleti before the transfer was rubber-stamped.
Even so, it now appears Marcelino’s club might have to considerably improve their offer on the table or risk missing out on Gameiro altogether after he seemed destined for Mestalla.
