Aston Villa have completed the signing of goalkeeper Andre Moreira from Atletico Madrid, reports the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Atleti first team and has been loaned out to Portuguese outfits Unaio Madeira, Belenenses and Braga over the past four seasons.
Now, however, he has decided to try his luck in the English Championship on a similar arrangement and becomes Villa’s first acquisition of the summer, although the transfer is thought to have been sealed earlier this week when he kept a clean sheet in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Stoke City.
“I am really excited and this is a big opportunity for me at such a big club,” Moreira told Villa’s official website.
“It’s the perfect opportunity and comes at the right moment, so it’s a big move for me. Aston Villa is a great football club – a famous football club.
“The training facilities are great. I know the stadium is famous and historic and I just can’t wait to get started now.”
