Vinicius Junior admitted he was ‘extremely happy’ to play his first match for Real Madrid despite a friendly defeat to Manchester United.
The Brazilian – who joined Madrid in a €40m deal from Flamengo this summer – played over an hour in the defeat, before being replaced by Oscar Rodriguez.
“I am extremely happy to wear this shirt for the first time, irrespective of the result,” Vinicius is cited as saying by Marca after the match.
“I have settled into the squad very quickly and everybody is very helpful, I am very appreciative.”
Meanwhile, Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui also spoke of the Brazilian’s debut: “He enjoyed a good game, he grew into the match and is getting better like the rest of the squad.
“His main challenge is to adapt to our style of football and that is what we have been trying with him, but this is an encouraging start.”
