Fernando Hierro has confirmed that David de Gea and Diego Costa will start Spain’s World Cup last-16 tie with Russia on Sunday.
Costa’s place looked to have already been assured by his return of three goals in the group stage, while Hierro had been pressured into dropping De Gea after his mistake against Portugal in Spain’s opening World Cup game.
“Yes, De Gea will play,” replied the Coach when asked about the Manchester United goalkeeper by Radio Nacional de Espana.
“I didn’t consider a change in goal. Costa? If there are more changes you’ll see them, but Diego Costa has started all three games and scored three goals. That answers the question.”
