Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius sustained a concussion during last month's Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid, according to doctors.
The German shot-stopper travelled to the United States to undergo tests in Boston which stated immediate impacts were ‘likely’ and it was ‘possible’ that such an injury ‘would affect performance’.
The 24-year-old made two high-profile errors in the match; his throw-out was charged down by Karim Benzema for the first goal and he let Gareth Bale’s long-range effort through his hands for the third.
Dr Ross Zafonte clarified his conclusions after running tests on the former Mainz goalkeeper and added: “We expect him to make a full recovery based on the results of the examination.”
Karius received a barrage of criticism after the match, including death threats.
