Real Valladolid and Numancia have secured the last two playoff spots in the Segunda, while Cultural Leonesa have been relegated.
Cadiz, Osasuna and Real Oviedo also had a chance of sneaking into the top six, but Numancia’s 2-1 win against Cultural and Valladolid’s 3-2 victory over the Pamplonans sealed the deal for the pair in question.
Numancia’s place in the playoffs was particularly notable, given they only pipped Oviedo by the virtue of a superior head-to-head and relegated Cultural in the process.
Former top-flight sides Almeria and Cordoba stayed up with a draw at Lugo and a win against Sporting Gijon respectively.
They kick off the playoffs on Wednesday with a semi-final first leg against Real Zaragoza, before the return fixture in Aragon three days later.
Valladolid, meanwhile, face Sporting – who only dropped into the second tier last season – on Thursday and again on Sunday.
