Rafinha Alcantara’s father and agent Mazinho has asked Inter and Barcelona to come to an agreement so his son can remain in Milan.
In an interview with Tutto Sport, Mazinho insisted that the future of the midfielder does not depend on whether the Italian side reaches the Champions League, and has asked both clubs to broker a deal.
He also admitted that Rafinha does not want to start all over again from scratch and believes the Brazilian has shown his worth with the Serie A giants, where he has been on loan from Barca since January this year and made 16 league appearances with two goals.
“The Champions League has nothing to do with Rafa’s future and it’s up to Inter, because what he had to do he has done,” maintained Mazinho, who was a World Cup winner for Brazil in 1994.
“It’s all a question of economics and Inter and Barca will need to find a solution. We’d like to know as soon as possible what Inter are thinking so we can analyse the situation and help the clubs find a way to keep him at Inter.
“I still don’t know what Inter have decided, even less Barcelona, yet I want to make it clear we are happy in Milan and don’t want to start from zero.
“I think Rafa has shown in every way he likes it at Inter and his salary is not high – that’s normal.
“He also likes Spalletti, the Coach, and despite him not being used to his system of pay it appears the facts are there to show that he can do whatever he wants.
“Spalletti has also helped him grow both physically and tactically,” he explained.
