Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos is a summer target for Manchester United, according to reports in Spain.
The Germany international has been earmarked by United boss Jose Mourinho as a replacement for Michael Carrick, who retired at the end of the season and will now join the club’s coaching staff.
There are also question marks over the future of Paul Pogba after his relationship with Mourinho has deteriorated, with Don Balon claiming Kroos is leaning towards a move to Old Trafford.
Some reports even suggest that any proposed move for Kroos would not go down well with the Frenchman.
The Red Devils were interested in 28-year-old Kroos four years ago but pulled out of a deal to sign him from Bayern Munich, yet their interest is understood to have been revived after the player allegedly indicated he may be open to a switch to Old Trafford.
The central midfielder has won two Champions League crowns and a La Liga title in a trophy-laden spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, forming a key partnership with Luka Modric.
