Vincenzo Montella insists Sevilla’s league clash at Deportivo La Coruna on Tuesday night is as important as the Copa del Rey final.
The Andalusian club have slipped to seventh in the standings following a run of poor results in the league and travel to relegation-threatened Depor, four days before facing Barcelona in the final.
“You cannot choose between competitions, we have to fight in all of them,” Montella is cited as saying by official Sevilla media.
“The final against Barcelona is obviously important but we must also prioritise qualification for Europe for the continuation of our club’s progress.
“Our match against Deportivo is just as important as the Copa final and yes the team needs to rest a little because it is a tiring season but we cannot discount games.
“Depor will be a tough opponent, they have climbed the table from recent games and they have a strong side so it will be tough as always, but we must carry the right attitude.”
