Sevilla Coach Vincenzo Montella ‘does not pay any attention to league standings’ after being quizzed over his side slipping below Real Betis.
The Champions League quarter-finalists lie in sixth position, just two points ahead of city neighbours Betis, who are two places further back in the table.
The possibility of Los Rojiblancos slipping below their city neighbours has been raised as they face Barcelona next – and must still play Real Madrid – while Betis only have one fixture remaining against a top five team.
“I don’t pay any attention to the league standings,” retorted Montella, as cited by ABC de Sevilla.
“For Sevilla, it is important for us to win as many points as possible and of course to be as high up in the table as we can be, but we are not concerned.”
