Vincenzo Montella treasured Sevilla’s ‘special night’ after they ‘deservedly beat an extraordinary’ Manchester United side on Tuesday.
Montella’s decision to bring on Wissam Ben Yedder yielded two goals in a 2-1 victory, which not only dumped United out of the Champions League but took Sevilla into the quarter-finals for the first time in 60 years.
“I’m very happy. I thank the President for giving me the opportunity to coach this team and the fans for their unconditional support,” the Coach said after the game.
“It was a special night and I’m very happy with how we played. We defended very well and deservedly beat an extraordinary team.
“We improved a lot defensively from our last game. We didn’t make any individual errors like we did against Valencia.
“Ben Yedder? He was decisive. We felt very close to our fans and I saw how some of the players were also fans in the dressing room.”
