Sevilla swept Athletic Bilbao aside in a 2-0 victory on Saturday, but Vincenzo Montella warned his side “must improve in terms of taking chances”.
Sevilla’s former Serie A strike force of Luis Muriel and Franco Vazquez combined to give Sevilla their fourth Liga win in five games and move them four points clear of Villarreal in fifth.
However, the Andalusians remain eight behind fourth-placed Valencia, who beat Real Betis 2-0 a day later.
“The team played very well, overcoming Athletic’s pressure with speed,” the Coach said after the game.
“We could’ve scored more goals and must improve in terms of taking chances, but we had a great game and played at their very best. I’d like them to take every chance.
“Valencia-Betis? Maybe in exceptional circumstances, both sides could lose… The important thing is that we win our own games.”
