Clarence Seedorf backed Lucas Perez after the Arsenal loanee missed a penalty during Deportivo La Coruna’s stalemate with Espanyol on Friday.
Lucas squandered the chance to lift Depor out of La Liga’s bottom three as Depor remained winless in their three games under Seedorf, but the Dutchman insisted his side would get “a lot of morale” from the 0-0 draw.
“The first half was even, but in the second half we deserved more and it’s the way to go,” he said after the game.
“We’re going to get a lot of morale from this game. The fans were magnificent and we must keep believing. Physically we’re growing.
“Lucas? He had a great game and the only negative thing was his penalty miss. When the match finished, I gave him a kiss. We created plenty of chances, not just the penalty.”
