Former Real Madrid and Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf is set to be announced as the new Deportivo La Coruna Coach, say reports in Spain.
Marca report the former Dutch international will be officially unveiled at the Galician club on Monday afternoon at 15.30 CET (Spanish time), with his first training session set for Tuesday morning.
Uruguayan tacticians Martin Lasarte and Diego Alonso are reported to have been Depor’s preferred candidates but both ruled themselves out of the running.
Cristobal Parralo – who replaced Pepe Mel earlier in the campaign – was dismissed by the struggling La Liga side on Sunday following a 5-0 defeat at Real Sociedad.
Cristobal was only promoted from their B team in October, but the Galicians’ former defender oversaw nine defeats and just three wins in 15 games.
Dutchman Seedorf won a League title and Champions League with Madrid between 1996 and 1999 but is best known for his decade-long spell at Milan, where he won Serie A twice and as many European cups.
The 41-year-old then managed the Milanese giants for 22 games in 2014, winning half of those games, while also coaching Chinese side Shenzhen in the latter half of 2016.
