Sevilla are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Nacional defender and Uruguayan youth international Agustin Rogel in January, according to reports in Spain.
The 20-year-old has broken into the first-team squad at the Uruguayan giants this year, but has only made 16 professional appearances so far.
“I travelled to Spain a week ago, I already met with the representatives of Sevilla and we are ahead of our schedule,” Gerardo Arias – Rogel’s agent – confirmed to the Uruguayan radio station 1010 AM.
The central defender, who stands at 190cm, helped Uruguay’s Under-20 international side to the Sudamericano Under-20 title earlier this year.
Estadio Deportivo report the Andalucians are in ‘advanced’ talks for the player, who will initially be integrated into the Sevilla Atletico side – currently in La Liga 123.
Rogel does not possess a European passport but this should not block any deal, while his release clause at the club is reported to be in the region of €1.5m.
