Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno (pictured left) has moved to play down security concerns for his side’s trip to Girona this weekend.
Los Blancos play the Catalan side for the first time in their history in the midst of a tense political situation surrounding Catalonia’s future with Spain.
Media outlets have reported Madrid will not use their official team bus as one of a number of security measures to be taken.
“All we our focused on is going to play a match that we aim to win,” Butragueno is quoted as saying by Marca.
“Real Madrid are a football club and we will only talk about the football – that is all we focus on, to win and to make our fans happy.
“Not using the official team bus? It won't be the first time that this has happened and there is no need to give it any further importance.”
