Former Valencia Coach Pako Ayestaran is one of two candidates, alongside Javi Gracia, to take the vacant managerial job at Las Palmas.
Cadena Cope journalists Juan Francisco Cruz – based in Gran Canaria – and Juan Carlos Xuancar both report the 54-year-old as being a strong contender to replace Manolo Marquez, who resigned on Tuesday.
Pako spent eleven seasons as assistant to Rafael Benitez at Extremadura, Tenerife, Valencia and Liverpool before branching out to become a number one elsewhere.
He has since managed at Mexican sides Tecos and Santos Lugana alongside Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv before a short-lived stint at the Mestalla, winning three of the 12 matches in charge.
Gracia – formerly in charge of Malaga and Russian club Rubin Kazan – is also said to be in the frame and has been out of work since June.
