Loic Remy scored again for Las Palmas in their 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, but his winner was marred by Alen Halilovic’s ankle injury.
Remy and Las Palmas made it two in two as the striker pulled in from the left and angled a shot hard and low past Kepa Arrizabalaga, with just three minutes of normal time remaining.
“The game was decided by his moment of brilliance,” Coach Manolo Marquez said after the game.
“He’s a great player, both individually and in terms of physical potential, and he has huge desire.
“Remy changed the game. His position is centre-forward, but we put him on the left wing because he likes to go inside.”
The result propelled the islanders to 11th in La Liga, but a statement on their official website confirmed Halilovic also suffered “an injury to his left ankle”, which will see him undergo tests on Monday “to determine the exact extent of his injury.”
The Croatian attacker was stretchered off in just the 37th minute against Athletic and looked to be in distress as he left the pitch.
