Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Iago Herrerin believes his side can win the Europa League this season and he is excited for playing his part.
The 29-year-old is the club’s second choice goalkeeper behind Kepa Arrizabalaga but is expected to play all of his side’s Europa League matches this season.
Indeed, Herrerin – who spent the second half of last season on loan at Leganes – has already amassed 29 appearances in the competition, including all four qualifying matches this season.
“I have been fortunate enough to play against many great clubs and in fantastic stadiums in this competition,” Herrerin told Marca.
“I want to continue playing in this competition and collecting memories, hopefully I can continue to push towards the club’s European record.
“We want to fight for this title, we believe we are capable of winning it and can compete with any club in this competition.
“Hertha Berlin? They will be a very tough opponent but we are looking forward to it, they will be a good challenge for us.
“We know the nature of European competition, we must get off to a good start and stay focused, taking things step-by-step.”
