Middlesbrough playmaker Gaston Ramirez has rejected a contract offered by Real Betis but a move has not been ruled out, say reports in Spain.
According to ABC de Sevilla, the Uruguayan does not wish to take up the first offer from Los Verdiblancos with the understanding that the economic offer is a step down from his time in England.
The same paper reported earlier this week a deal for the 26-year-old was ‘very close’ with the player and whilst he still would like a move to the Seville-based club, they must increase their offer.
It concludes that whilst reports had linked Spartak Moscow had closed in on a deal for Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic but Betis are ‘calm’ over the situation and believe they are still favourites for the Croatian – which would rule out a move for Ramirez.
