Real Madrid and Austria Under 21 international Philipp Lienhart will join Freiburg, the Bundesliga club’s Coach Christian Streich has said.
The 20-year-old moved to the Bernabeu from Rapid Vienna two years ago but has only made senior appearance, instead becoming a regular in the club’s Castilla youth team.
"It will work, and that's great," Streich is quoted as telling Sky Sport Germany.
"He's an Austrian U21 player who has been at Madrid for some time and learned a lot there.
"He'll join us highly motivated. Those are the right ones for us, those who still must and want to learn a lot."
Lienhart will follow the departures of Enzo Zidane (Alaves) and Fede Valverde (Deportivo, loan) from the Castilla team of last season.
Freiburg finished 7th in last season’s German top flight.
