Las Palmas have appointed B team boss Manolo Marquez as as their new Coach to replace Quique Setien, the club have confirmed.
Multiple reports in the Spanish press had linked Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi with the role, but Los Amarillos confirmed Marquez’s promotion on Monday.
The 48-year-old has signed a one-year deal at Estadio Gran Canaria with the option of a second also inserted into his contract.
A Las Palmas statement read the Coach was ‘fulfilling a dream’ with his appointment at the club, having won promotion to Segunda B with Las Palmas Athletic last season.
Following a hugely impressive first half of La Liga, Las Palmas fell away from the top half and ultimately finished 14th with new signings failing to make an impact and uncertainty surrounding the management.
