Napoli are lining up a move for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli should Pepe Reina decide to leave the club, according to reports.
Diario AS have followed up on reports in Sky Sport Italia that 34-year-old Reina could leave the Naples-based club, whom he initially joined in 2013, this summer.
The former Liverpool shot-stopper has one year remaining on his deal in Italy but has failed to agree a renewal and is said to be seeking stability, leading to reports he could leave the club this summer.
Newcastle United – manager by Reina’s former boss on Merseyside, Rafael Benitez – are said to be interested in the Spaniard’s signature.
Goalkeeper Rulli is reportedly being monitored by the Italian giants as the natural replacement, with the Argentine ‘ticking all the boxes’.
The 25-year-old only joined La Real permanently in January after a loan spell from Deportivo Maldonado, before signing for Manchester City and immediately being loaned back to the San Sebastian club.
