Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has promised the club will make ‘big-name signings’ this summer and believes they need to bolster their squad.
Hector Bellerin, Marco Verratti and Ousmane Dembele have all been heavily linked with summer moves to the Camp Nou but despite no specific names being given, investment was promised.
"We have a lot of information and there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes,” Fernandez told Barcelona’s club magazine.
"It goes without saying that we'll bolster the squad in the positions we need and that they'll be big-name signings.
"The biggest difficulty we face is our own grandeur – a lot of players don't want to come here because they aren't sure they'll get much playing time.
"But we are very happy with the players that we signed last summer because we think that this year they will make big steps forward in their careers."
The Blaugrana signed six players last summer but the club lost out on a La Liga crown to Real Madrid and suffered Champions League elimination at the hands of Juventus.
