Real Sociedad are in ‘pole position’ to complete the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa, according to reports in Spain.
Marca state the 22-year-old will make a permanent move to the Basque club, who have also been in Madrid to complete the signing of Real Madrid defender Diego Llorente.
It was initially thought Atletico’s failed attempt to overturn their FIFA registration ban for new plan would scupper Correa’s move to San Sebastian but this now appears not to be the case.
Fernando Torres is set to renew his contract at Los Rojiblancos to provide backup for Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro in Diego Simeone’s side attack which would continue to limit Correa’s appearances.
The Argentine, who moved to the Calderon in 2015, has scored nine La Liga goals in only 18 starts over two seasons.
Diogo Jota and Luciano Vietto are both returning to Atleti this summer following loan spells away and it is likely that one or both will be included in Simeone's first-team squad.
