Valencia are considering a move to re-sign Napoli’s Raul Albiol having failed in a bid for the defender last summer.
According to Marca, Los Che had bids of €6m and €12m knocked back last summer due to the Italian side inserting a €15m release clause on his deal but this has reportedly since been reduced to a mere €6m.
New Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral is keen to rebuild Valencia’s squad this summer and they are on the lookout for an affordable central defender with loanee Eliaquim Mangala not remaining at the Mestalla next season.
A youth graduate of Valencia, the now 31-year-old left for Real Madrid in 2009 for €15m, winning the Copa Del Rey and UEFA Cup during his stint with his boyhood club.
Albiol has won 51 caps for Spain and has made 129 Serie A appearances for the Naples club since joining in 2013, playing a vital role in helping them secure a top three league finish and a Champions League last 16 appearance.
