Betis work on Ceballos renewal

Real Betis are working on a new deal for star midfielder Dani Ceballos to increase his release clause amid interest from Real Madrid and Atletico.

According to AS, the 20-year-old has a €15m release clause in his contract at Estadio Benito Villamarin with the club hopeful of ‘significantly’ increasing this with new terms.

“We’ve been talking for a while, we want to build the team around him,” Verdiblancos president Angel Haro is quoted as saying by AS.

“We’re working to ensure that his clause isn’t in effect.”

Last month, the Spanish under 21 international stated he saw his future at the Seville-based club and appeared to be open to the idea of signing a new deal.

Atletico Madrid have long been linked with the highly-rated midfielder but are currently serving a transfer ban while Los Blancos would reportedly be keen on signing Ceballos and loaning him back to Betis for one season.
