Real Madrid hero Pedja Mijatovic has slammed Dani Alves for denouncing his winner in the 1998 Champions League Final. “He’s never been very smart.”
Alves claimed ahead of Saturday’s Final in Cardiff that Madrid should not have won the 1998 edition due to Mijatovic’s goal being offside, but the Serbian found the right-back’s comments in poor taste.
“I don’t care about the opinions of Dani Alves or the Juventus fans, now he’s more of a Juventino than them all,” he told Cadena SER.
“The Italians justify their defeat with the offside call, but it wasn’t the case.
“Dani Alves is a great footballer and has showed it at Sevilla, Barcelona and Juve, but he’s never been very smart with his statements.
“Madrid? I watched a good training session from them today, with a lot of intensity.
“I’ve had good feelings since Lisbon [in 2014], just like in Milan [last year], just like today.
“There’s harmony between the players and Zidane conveys a lot of calmness.
“We have everything needed for a good game and to win another Champions League.”
