Villarreal Coach Fran Escriba will remain in charge at Estadio de la Ceramica next season, the club have officially confirmed.
The 52-year-old guided the Yellow Submarine to an impressive 5th-placed finish having replaced the unexpectedly sacked Marcelino Garcia Toral on the eve of the campaign in August.
“Villarreal CF and Fran Escriba have reached an agreement for the coach to continue to guide the Submarine during the 2017-18 campaign,” read a club statement.
Escriba’s side had the second best defence in La Liga throughout the campaign, with their 33 goals conceded in 38 matches only bettered by Atletico Madrid.
Formerly Coach of Elche and Getafe, Escriba’s contract at Villarreal runs until June 2018.
