Real Betis Coach Victor Sanchez del Amo has expressed delight at bringing happiness to the fans and players after beating Eibar.
Sunday’s victory – courtesy of goals from midfielder Jonas Martin and Dani Ceballos – ensured Los Verdiblancos ended a three-match losing streak and virtually guaranteed their safety in La Liga.
“After three games in a row without winning, every team would need a victory,” Victor explained in his post-match press conference.
“This victory is very important to give the fans the joy of celebrating at home. We hadn’t done it since the game against Osasuna.
“It’s a great moment for the players, too, they are working really hard and tried in every game. We were very close in many games and today the team competed very well in the crucial moments of the game. We made a complete match against a team that was in a great streak of results.
“The only thing we can do is to be able to do our job and make the fans enjoy the victory. Today is about the players, that’s what matters. The coach is not that important.
“There is nothing I can say to the fans, just repeat matches like this one. We worked well against a difficult rival and now we have to focus on getting two victories in a row, we haven’t done it yet.”
