Petros hails ‘huge’ Betis upturn

Real Betis midfielder Petros has hailed the club’s recent home form and upturn in results since the arrival of Coach Victor Sanchez del Amo.

The former Depor boss was appointed in November and is unbeaten in eight home games across all competitions, a run which has included six clean sheets.

“The change in the team is huge,” explained Petros to the club’s official website.

“Since I arrived here, I always said that we need to become strong at Villamarin, and we can see it now.

“I’ve been speaking with the Brazilians that play in Valencia and they said that is very hard to play here.

“We didn’t win because of small details. We are working well, excited, and with good vibes. We have to make the second half of the season better than the first one, winning away, too.”

The Brazilian described Saturday’s stalemate with Valencia as ‘bittersweet’, with his side playing very well but unable to find the back of the net.

“The draw is bittersweet,” he added.

“We played well again, dominating the game, pressing, stealing the ball constantly and we even hit the post twice. It’s a pity, we have to transform good performances into victories.

“The fans leave happy because we played well, but we have let four points escape in the last two games. We need to go on. We have three difficult games and we must win them all.”
