Real Betis boss Gus Poyet is ‘fed up’ with coaches trying to copy Pep Guardiola’s style and praised the path of Diego Simeone.
Poyet spoke of his admiration for the identification and philosophy of Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side and stated that whilst he admires what Guardiola has achieved ‘only Barcelona’ can pull it off effectively.
"I'm very grateful to Simeone because he showed that the football world is not just (former Barcelona and current Manchester City coach) Pep Guardiola,” explained the Uruguayan.
“Simeone has shown to all of the coaches in the world that there is another way, because I was a bit fed up that so many people followed Guardiola's style.
"In each country there was a Guardiola. And it's a lie because what Barcelona do only Barcelona can do. Don't get me wrong, I love their (Guardiola and Barcelona's) style, I identify with it but it cannot be done.
"If you are able to convince all of your players with your idea, you can offer an exceptional level."
