Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi has once again failed to commit his long-term future to the club.
The much-famed Monchi had told the Andalucian club this summer that he wished to leave after 16 years in his role, where he has played a major part in the five Europa League successes since.
“To talk about this with me is difficult as you know more than me,” said the 48-year-old former goalkeeper in an interview with L’Equipe.
“I do not speak about my future because it would not be beneficial for me or my club.
“I am an honest person but I do not speak more than about Sevilla, I read something but I do not know, my head is focused on the match against Lyon.”
Speculation about his future had re-emerged after various reports in the French press had linked him to a new role at Olympique de Marseille, who are under new American ownership.
