QSF promises adventurous Espanyol

Quique Sanchez Flores has promised an adventurous Espanyol performance when they host Celta Vigo in La Liga on Sunday.

Espanyol finally won their first League match, both of the season and under Sanchez Flores, on Thursday at Osasuna, and though Sanchez Flores admits Celta are “more developed” than his side, the Catalans have “no excuses” about not pressing their opponents.

“We’ve always worked with the philosophy of improving, and the results must accompany this. The players need a win to feel recognised for their efforts,” he said at a Press conference.

“We’re working for the fans, and our passion and interest is doing things right.

“We seek to excite our fans and, in time, the stadium will return to being full. We hope they have desire to watch the team.

“We received a slap in the first game of the season, which left us reeling and with logical doubts. It’s been difficult for us to recover, but we must have patience.

“We’ll maintain the same level of passion, attitude and commitment. [Celta] are more developed, while we’re in the initial phase of our project, but that’s no excuse.

“I hope we can repeat our best minutes in Pamplona or against Real Madrid.

“We’re not interested in defending in our own half. We must prevent them from playing where they want.”
