Ayestaran: Mustafi isn’t for sale

Pako Ayestaran insists Valencia won’t sell Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi and ‘if the President says Paco Alcacer isn’t sold, he isn’t.’

Mustafi has been strongly linked with the Gunners but played in Los Che’s season opener, a defeat at home to Las Palmas, and post-match the Coach was asked about the defender’s future, and that of Alcacer, wanted by Barca.

“Mustafi? He isn’t for sale and will be in Valencia. That’s what the people at club have demonstrated. Alcacer? If the President tells me he hasn’t been sold, then that’s what I think. We’ll see what the market offers for Diego Alves. We have three great goalkeepers and two will stay,” Ayestaran said, AS reports, having also evaluated the match itself and confirmed a hope the club makes further signings.

“It’s very difficult to win when you concede three or four goals. I’m sad for the result but happy with the team’s work. I think it’s hard to play better, but we weren’t accurate. If you look at the game I don’t think I counted more than four shots on our goal.

“The whole team has been at a high level. Except for defensive errors, the whole team was on a high note. We created chances inside and outside, but we weren’t successful. The control was total.

“Of course I’m worried for the defensive frailties because it penalises us a lot. It’s something we work on. But I think the important thing is to have identity and the team is starting to look that way. I’m convinced that if we maintain this performance the team will shoot up.”
